BEWARE! DirectTV
I have been a customer for 7 months and prior to signing my contract I called DirectTV directly notifying them that I would be moving in 7-8 months. I asked directly, %u201CI will be moving in 7-8 months, will there be a fee for me to transfer my service?%u201D I was told %u201CNo, there will be no additional fee to move your service during you contract.%u201D I then signed up my service and was happy with what I was provided.
7-8 months later%u2026 I called DirectTV to notify them I am moving and I will be moving my receivers over to the new location and was requesting an additional receiver. I was told that it would be $343.00 to move my service. I understand the $99 fee for additional receiver, but $250 to install at a new location that is un-needed. The new location already has DirectTV that is currently being utilized and is wired in the rooms I am looking to move TVs.
Let me clarify, I am being charged $250 to have someone come in, screw in 3 coax cables and plug in 3 HDMI cables, which I am more than capable of handling myself! This is outright, deceit and robbery by a company, with questionable business practices%u2026
I wanted to share this with others, I do not have problems with the service or content, but with the short-sightedness and %u201Cpush%u201D sales tactics the company utilizes and operates on to get customers in the door. In the end, I am left with the choice of paying DirectTV $340 to cancel my service, or $343 to transfer my service to new location and continue to pay those that used a %u201CGet them to sign by any means necessary%u201D tactic and refused to honor the information provided by their own employees%u2026 I am choosing the first%u2026
In the end DirectTV is choosing to take the $340 cancellation fee over the payments over the rest of my contract ($1120) and beyond. Let this also be a warning to investors of DirectTV, this makes poor business sense for the bottom-line as well. DirectTV Chooses to lie and take a short term gain over a happy customer and long term returns%u2026
